Job Description

1) Search for and identify competent vendors who are aligned to LCL’s strategy- understand the vendor identification criteria and policy and adhere to the same

2) Understand the user’s requirement in detail (especially for new developments) in order to search for relevant vendors- discuss and collaborate with the end user to get the required information/preferences/non-negotiable aspects

3) Conduct the first level price negotiation- have clear understanding of market rates, manufacturing process (to understand the effort and accordingly work out the costing) to get the best deal for the organization

4) Maintain a database of past, existing and potential vendors for ready reference and update the same in line with their performance and market rates to stay aligned with the overall SCM function’s philosophy

5) Constantly look for alternate sources to meet demand, stay cost effective and ensure availability of more than one supplier for all critical and fast moving items

6) Partner with SQD for assessing vendor capability (in terms of their processes, manufacturing set up etc) before selecting and on-boarding vendors

7) Stay updated in terms of costing and negotiation techniques, knowledge of component processing, market rates etc in order to identify and select relevant vendors for LCL and stay cost effective

8) Constantly track and monitor the performance of selected vendors through feedback and requisite dashboards and metrics and take necessary corrective action wherever required.
